This talk explores the rise and fall of Prokudin-Forsky. His use of digichromatography and his creation of colour photographs. Commissioned by the Tsar to document the land of people of the Empire, he was given permits and his own railway carriage, converted into a dark room, to achieve this. He captured traditional ways of life, many of which were lost after the Bolshevik revolution. Prokudin-Gorsky’s escape to Paris is another chapter in his life.
